in inceptum finis est

March 13-15 2020, The Dock, Colorado Springs, CO

Focusing on creation stories from around the world, Jem uses textual repetition and the calligraphic mark in commentary on the persistence of storytelling and ritual as a method of understanding humanity’s place in the universe.

OPENING EVENT Friday March 13 from 6-9PM. Jem will give a performance at 7PM immediately followed by an artist talk and Q&A. Additional gallery hours are Saturday/Sunday the 14/15 from 1-4PM & Jem will be there to guide you through the show and answer any questions you may have.

Jem is an interdisciplinary, research-based artist currently located in Manitou Springs, Colorado. His recent work focuses on spirituality by addressing the ritualization of repetitive action and the sacredness of the ordinary through hands-on, utilitarian manipulation of materials, also touching on the power of storytelling, physics and mathematics, and the body. His work spans from sculpture, painting and drawing, performance, printmaking, installation, sound, and the Word. He is currently pursuing a B.A. in Visual Arts and Art History at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
